Hopping Down Memory Lane - My First Scientific Article!

December 13, 2022

This week we are taking a trip down memory lane to a small rural town in Virginia, USA. Every summer I would visit my grandparents there where I’d swim in the pool and run around the yard with my sisters and cousins. Little did my family realize that this would also be the start of my scientific career!
One year my family found a huge bullfrog in the swimming pool. My grandfather, Otis Ryman, was so excited that he picked him up, measured and weighed him! I helped author this article that was later put into the town newspaper - hence all the spelling mistakes and math error. I believe we meant to say Big Bubba, the name of our bullfrog, was 10.75 ounces not pounds!
I hope you enjoy this fun newspaper clipping about Big Bubba. I not only cherish it as one of my first hops into science, but also because it is filled with memories of my late grandfather - a man I truly cherish.
